initscripts software package provides scripts for initializing and shutting down the system, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install initscripts
initscripts is installed in your system.
Make ensure the initscripts package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep initscripts *
You will get with initscripts package name, version, architecture and description in a table
